Hydraulic Engineering

Hydraulic engineering is an important part of civil engineering and is used to design and construct structures that control and utilize the flow of rivers, oceans, and other bodies of water. It also includes the design of coastal and ocean structures including dams, levees, breakwaters, seawalls, and levee systems. Through the use of hydraulic engineering, communities can reduce the risk of flooding and benefit from the economic, social, and environmental benefits of a healthy and safe water supply. Hydraulic engineering is a key tool for maintaining and managing water infrastructure, and it is used in a variety of applications in the areas of irrigation, drainage, flood control, water resources engineering, navigation, and water supply.
