Creatinine

Creatinine is a waste product created by the breakdown of creatine phosphate, a molecule used for energy in muscle tissues. Its production is linked to muscle mass, so it is used as an indicator of kidney function. Elevated creatinine levels in the blood may indicate that the kidneys are not functioning properly, and can be used to detect early signs of kidney dysfunction and other health conditions such as diabetes. High creatinine levels can also be caused by certain medications, and by eating certain types of food, so it it important to consider other factors when assessing creatinine levels. In general, creatinine is a useful tool used to monitor kidney health and detect early signs of kidney problems or other illnesses.
