Empathy

Empathy is the ability to comprehend and share the feelings of another. It is an important part of emotional intelligence, which enables us to recognize and respond to the emotions of others. In psychological terms, it is the capacity to recognize and understand the feelings of others without placing judgment. This process helps in developing better communication skills, improving relationships, and responding to challenging situations. Empathy has been linked with positive outcomes for both physical and psychological health, such as increased prosocial behaviours and a decreased risk of depression and anxiety. Empathy has also been linked to helping professionals, such as doctors, therapists, and social workers, to better understand and care for their patients.
