Cytokines

Cytokines are small proteins secreted by cells of the immune system, such as lymphocytes and macrophages, that regulate various biological processes. They are important for coordinating the body’s response to injury and infections, initiating inflammation, and regulating the activity of other immune cells. Cytokines are often used in research to study immunological responses and to develop therapies for a range of medical conditions, including inflammatory diseases, allergies, autoimmune disorders and some forms of cancer.
