Cytokines and Musculoskeletal Disorders
Cytokines are proteins released by cells in the body that communicate between cells, helping to regulate immune and inflammatory responses. They play a role in many musculoskeletal disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and fibromyalgia. Research into the role of cytokines in these disorders is helping to provide a better understanding of the underlying causes and progression of these diseases, and has revealed potential new strategies for treating and managing them.
