Neurology
Neurology is a branch of medicine which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the nervous system. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves which enable us to perform bodily functions and process information from the environment. Neurologists diagnose and treat patients with neurological conditions including stroke, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, headaches, seizures, neuropathies, and spinal cord disorders. Neurology is an essential aspect of modern medicine, as it enables further research into the causes, treatments and prevention of neurological disease and disorders. Neurology can also provide better diagnostic imaging, such as CT scans and MRI, to help detect and treat these conditions.
