Abstract:
In Low Middle-Income Countries (LIMCs), malnutrition, especially undernutrition is one of the leading causes of childhood mortality and morbidity. Poor complementary feeding practices are among the most notable contributors to poor nutritional indicators in children under five. This article provides an output of secondary data analysis of the Cost of Diet (CoD) and Optifood component of National Complementary Feeding Assessment conducted by UNICEF Pakistan along with Pakistan Demographic Health Survey (PDHS) 2018. Delayed Vision Loss Post Assault-Induced Zygomatic Fracture Repair in a Patient with an Ipsilateral Anterior Clinoid Process Pneumatization, A Case Report
Abstract:
A 27-year-old male presented one week after surgical repair of his fractured left zygomatic arch, 5 weeks post-assault, complaining of persistent blurred vision in the left eye and worsening migraine headaches. Magnetic resonance images (MRI) revealed no intra-orbital pathologies or optic neuropathy but demonstrated a clearly delineated air-filled space of the left anterior clinoid process (ACP). No vision threatening pathologies were identified and surgical treatment was not recommended. His blurred vision remained at 6-month follow up. We report a case of delayed vision loss and headache post zygomatic fracture repair surgery in patient with a confirmed ipsilateral ACP pneumatization.
Visualization of Myocardial Damage Based on Surface Heart Model
Abstract:
The visual presentation of the results of the analysis of cardio graphic information is an important element of the diagnostic process. The article discusses the issues of visualization of the state of the heart, notes the importance of a visual representation of the processes of the functioning of the heart for diagnosis. The Delaunay triangulation is considered and it is proved that on its basis it is possible to approximate an arbitrarily complex surface. An algorithm for constructing a surface model of the heart based on Delaunay triangulation has been developed. The issues of texture generation are covered in detail. The texture is a convenient tool for displaying the state ofthe heart, as it allows you to visually show the place of possible damage on the surface of the heart.
Evolution of Janus Kinase 2 V617F-negative idiopathic myelofibrosis into Philadelphia+ chronic myeloid leukemia
Abstract:
Limited data exist on the mechanisms promoting clonal expression of BCR-ABL1 cells in various myeloproliferative disorders. We present a patient whose Janus Kinase (JAK) 2 V617F-negative idiopathic myelofibrosis (IMF) transformed to Philadelphia-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). A 55-year-old man had anemia and splenomegaly. Trephine biopsy showed excess fibrosis without a JAK2 V617F mutation. Diagnosis of high-risk IMF with t(3;12) and del(16q) was made. Five years later a repeated trephine biopsy showed extensive fibrosis and t(9;22) with der(22)t(9;22). BCR-ABL1 fusion gene with typical p210 fusion transcript was found resulting in the diagnosis of CML. A modest treatment response was achieved with tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapies, but the disease eventually progressed to a myeloid blast phase. Assessment of Oral Health-Related Quality of Life Among a Sample of Yemeni Population
Abstract:
The study aimed to assess the oral health condition and its impact on the quality of life (QoL) among a sample of Yemeni population. The study including 256 individuals who responded to the Oral Health Impacts Profile (OHIP) through completing a face-to-face survey of the OHIP-14 Arabic version. The data were collected by one dentist trained in the terms of oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). The study revealed that the impact of OHRQoL among the study sample was found with a weighted OHIP-14 score of 1.1 (±0.9). Dual Energy Computed Tomography and Effect on the Management of Uric Acid Renal Calculi
Abstract:
Attenuation differences from 2 x-ray sources allow differentiation and characterization of stone types with similar radiation dose compared to single-energy CT scan. The difference is shown in colours, allowing preoperative prediction and management of stones. We determined the effect of DECT-KUB on urological management of patients with uric acid stones since it was first introduced in our centre. 50 patients with uric acid stones were selected from 2 year groups, each with 25 patients and their urological managements were reviewed retrospectively. We concluded that DECT-KUB is an accurate way of determining the chemical characteristics of renal calculi and can alter patients’ management. Abstract:
Oral ulceration is a common disorder of the oral mucosa with individuals regularly presenting to primary care practitioners seeking advice and treatment. Diagnosis of oral ulceration remains a challenge for clinicians due to the overlap in clinical presentations and the diverse aetiological processes that can be involved in their development. A recent study evaluating general medical practitioners’ attitudes towards oral examination identified problems in clinicians’ confidence in differentiating between benign and malignant ulcers, with a lack of knowledge and training being cited as contributing factors. This article aims to provide an overview of the diagnosis and management of oral ulceration, providing a framework to guide clinical decision-making in a primary care setting.
