Aims and Scope

 

Journal of Language Research is open access, peer-reviewed journal which handles practical issues concentrating on language, communication, society, and culture. JLR publishes contributions from researchers, investigators in all fields relevant to the study of language.

The study of language and its communicational functions are considered as an interest that participated in common by those working in artificial intelligence, the arts, anthropology, education, ethology, literature, linguistics, physiology, philosophy, psychology, and the social sciences.

 

JLR is a platform for researchers in various disciplines to explore various aspects of language, its structure and its use in different contexts and for different purposes. The topics of discourse include (but are not limited to): language policy and planning, language and education, bilingualism and multilingualism in various contexts, second language acquisition, language in different media, language in social contexts and professional contexts, language in the workplace, language and identity, and the structure of language.

 

JLR is interested in publishing original works that make groundbreaking contributions to the field of language research and draw on a wide range of theoretical and methodological perspectives. We encourage submissions that are accessible to a broad readership and are mindful of the diverse language needs of an international audience. We also welcome reviews of current research and opinion pieces that provide reasoned arguments on any and all aspects of language research. 

 

JLR is particularly keen to highlight the voices of scholars from marginalised communities who have been underrepresented in scholarly debates and to provide resources to support language teaching and learning. 

 

The scope of JLR is intended to be broad, spanning over 100 languages and representing research from a variety of disciplines including psychology, sociology, anthropology, linguistics, philosophy, and education. We welcome manuscripts concerning language in wider social contexts, such as the uses of language in conflict zones, language loss and endangerment, language and law, language and politics, language and technology, and language and gender. Crucially, JLR will also accept papers on language and culture, recognizing the close ties between the two.  

 

We encourage submission of papers that make creative use of quantitative and qualitative methods and provide creative and critical interpretations of existing research. 

 

Our goal is to create an avenue for researchers to share their work and to publish innovative theoretical, empirical and methodological approaches in language research. 

 

Contributions in the form of Original Research, Review, Literature review, Conference proceedings, Case reports, Short communication, Thesis, Letter to the editor, and Editorials are encouraged.
