Biography

Dr. Omid Iravani, PhD, MD, is R&D Director at the Legal Medicine Organization in Tehran, Iran. He holds degrees from the University of Paris Descartes (Sorbonne), the National University of Singapore (NUS), and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. His research encompasses cancer genetics, with notable contributions including the development of novel cancer biomarkers and the identification of pathways inhibiting breast cancer growth and progression through HS6ST3 gene silencing, published in Experimental Cell Research in 2017. His most-cited work, published in 2021, identified a missense variant in the EIF2B3 gene causing vanishing white matter disease with antenatal onset but mild symptoms and long-term survival. Dr. Iravani has also contributed to medical education through his pedagogical innovation "Question-Based Learning (QBL)," which he developed for teaching medical, dental, and life science students.
