Membership

Optional membership and institutional arrangements for the Journal of Sports and Exercise Medicine.

Participation

Membership is optional. Authors, readers and reviewers may use the journal without becoming members. Membership enquiries may concern an individual researcher, a research group or an institution.

Editorial independence

Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Membership confers no advantage in review or acceptance of a member’s own work. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.

Terms before enrollment

  • Any membership fee, duration, renewal conditions and agreed fee arrangement should be set out in writing before enrollment.
  • An agreed APC arrangement is administered separately from editorial assessment; manuscripts still undergo the ordinary screening and review process.
  • Researcher and institutional enquiries should identify the intended participants and the arrangement being requested.

Membership enquiries

Contact the editorial office about JSEM membership. The office can provide the applicable written terms before you decide whether to enroll.
