Editorial Board

The neurologists and neuroscientists who assess manuscripts for the Journal of Neurological Research and Therapy, with the affiliations and research interests recorded for each.

Manuscripts are handled by editors across basic, clinical, applied, experimental and translational neuroscience and neurology. Decisions rest on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality and relevance to the journal.

Editors recuse themselves from decisions on their own submissions, which are handled independently. The responsibilities the board works to are set out on For Editors.

How the board works

What editors do

The same sequence applies to every manuscript, whoever submits it and however it arrives.

Screening

All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.

Review

Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.

Decision

Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality and relevance to the journal. They remain independent of fees, services, memberships, and editorial or reviewing roles.

Conflicts

An editor who has a competing interest in a manuscript passes it to another editor, and their own submissions are handled independently.

The full framework is on Editorial Policies, and reviewer-facing guidance on For Reviewers.

Joining the board

Serving as an editor or reviewer

Researchers and clinicians in neuroscience and neurology, including neuroimaging and neurorehabilitation, who would like to review for the journal, or to be considered for the board, are invited to write to the editorial office at [email protected] with their subject area, methods and an ORCID iD where available.

Serving as an editor or reviewer confers no advantage in the review of that person's own submissions, which are assessed on the same criteria as any other.

Submission routes
