Article Processing Charges
The Journal of Fetal Surgery is an open-access journal: readers pay nothing to read or reuse its articles. Publication costs are met by an article processing charge (APC), set out in full on this page.
USD 750 to USD 1,450
By article type, payable only after acceptance.
The charge
The article processing charge (APC) of the Journal of Fetal Surgery depends on the article type. It becomes payable only after the manuscript has been accepted for publication, and billing details are sent to the corresponding author at that point. Submission and review carry no charge.
| Article type | APC, payable after acceptance |
|---|---|
| Original Research | USD 1,450 |
| Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis | USD 1,350 |
| Review | USD 1,350 |
| Surgical Technique or Technology Report | USD 850 |
| Short Communication | USD 750 |
| Case Report | USD 950 |
| Commentary | USD 750 |
| Letter | USD 750 |
A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis pays the Review rate, a Surgical Technique or Technology Report pays USD 850, a Commentary or Letter pays the Short Communication rate, and a Case Report includes a short case series.
Editorial decisions are independent of the APC and of any fee-relief inquiry.

Common questions
When is the APC payable?
The APC is payable only after acceptance. Billing details are sent to the corresponding author once the manuscript has been accepted.
Does the APC differ by article type?
Yes. The APC is set by article type, from USD 750 for a Short Communication, Commentary or Letter to USD 1,450 for Original Research. See the table above.
Does payment affect the editorial decision?
No. Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal, and are made before any charge becomes payable.
What if my manuscript is not accepted?
No APC is charged for a manuscript that is not accepted. The terms in the manuscript withdrawal section above apply to manuscripts that authors ask to remove from consideration.
Who can I contact about an invoice?
Billing questions are sent to the editorial office at [email protected].
