Enzyme Assays
Enzyme assays are laboratory tests used to measure the activity of an enzyme. Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts to accelerate chemical reactions that otherwise would occur too slowly. Enzyme assays are used for a variety of applications such as drug development, research, quality control, and diagnostics. By measuring the activity of an enzyme, scientists can gain a better understanding of the underlying biochemical and physiological processes within a living organism, or of how a drug or other substance impacts the activity of the enzyme. Enzyme assays are also invaluable in quality control and diagnostics, where they can be used to quickly and accurately measure the activity of the enzyme.
