Non-antioxidant Activities

of Ascorbate Ascorbate, more commonly known as Vitamin C, has powerful antioxidant and non-antioxidant activities. Ascorbate has long been known for its ability to protect against oxidative damage and has a variety of potential health benefits. However, recent research has shown that ascorbate may also have non-antioxidant activities and may play a significant role in supporting various cell functions, including maintenance of immune function, mobilization of fat stores, and regulation of expression of certain genes. Its non-antioxidant activities have the potential to have great significance for human health and may have applications in the prevention and treatment of various diseases.
