Antioxidants and Cancer Prevention
Antioxidants are molecules that have the ability to neutralise free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can cause damage to the body's cells and tissues, leading to diseases such as cancer. The body produces some antioxidants naturally, but a diet rich in foods rich in antioxidants has been linked to a reduced risk of developing certain types of cancer. Antioxidants also have other potential applications, including reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, slowing the ageing process and protecting against cardiovascular disease. Therefore, antioxidants may play a role in cancer prevention and in maintaining overall health and wellbeing.
