Antioxidant
Antioxidants are molecules that protect the body against damage caused by unstable molecules known as free radicals. Free radicals are generated by everyday stressors such as pollution and radiation, and can lead to oxidative damage which can lead to chronic diseases and the aging process. Antioxidants work by neutralizing these free radicals and preventing or slowing oxidative damage. They can be found in many natural sources, including fruits and vegetables, and are often added to foods and supplements to provide additional protection. Because of their potential to reduce oxidation and protect against chronic diseases, antioxidants are considered to be an important component of a healthy lifestyle.
