Objective

To study changes of cell morphology in BALF in children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP).

Methods

From December 2021 to May 2022, a group of 32 children diagnosed with Acute MPP and admitted for treatment in the Pediatrics Department and PICU of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University were selected for our study. Natural Polyphenols as Inhibitors for the Binding of Covid-19 S-RBD with ACE-2

Abstract:

The binding strength of Covid-19 variants, Omicron BQ.1, XBB.1.5, XBB 1.16, FE.1, EG.5, BA.2.86, HV.1, and JN.1, with the ACE-2, was calculated insilicoand evaluated with previous variants; the binding strength of new variants is XBB.1.5 << BA.2.86 < Delta < JN.1 < HV.1 < BA.1 << BA.2. The binding strength of Omicron JN.1 was similar to that of Delta, and that of others was less than that of BA.2.86. The binding inhibition of natural polyphenols was analyzed using a popular Omicron JN.1. The natural polyphenols were (-) Catechin, (+) Catechin, (+) epicatechin, apigenin, apigetrin, daidzein, quercetin, genistein, and oleuropein. The ionization of phenolic hydroxy groups was defined based on the atomic partial charge of oxygen. Polyphenols’ ionized hydroxy groups inhibited the binding of JN.1 S-RPB with ACE-2.

Abstract:

Objectives

This study examined the frequency and dynamics of syphilis in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) between 2018 and 2022. Recognizing the significance of understanding syphilis trends, this study intends to conduct further research on sexually transmitted diseases in the context of the UAE.

Methods

This was a retrospective cross-sectional study. This study focused on patients who underwent syphilis screening between January 2018 and December 2022. Cases were classified as conclusive only if they passed the first screening and subsequent confirmatory tests.

Sarcoidosis is granulomatous autoinflammatory autoimmune remitting relapsing disease affecting every organ in the body, it is the most difficult disease to diagnose in the absence of serum or imaging biomarker. Differential diagnosis is broad which included inflammatory, infective, neurodegenerative and neoplastic, histological biopsy is the only confirmative marker, and even histological confirmation is not robust as infection, malignancy and some drugs can induce granuloma, the most common organs affected are lung, lymph nodes, skin, eyes, liver, and less commonly pituitary gland, bones, brain, peripheral nerves, and heart, causing bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy, granulomatous lymphadenitis.

Abstract:

Background

Antibiotics are the most prescribed medications worldwide. Global consumption rose by 65% in 76 low and middle-income countries between the years 2000 and 2015. According to the World Health Organization, improper administration of antibiotics occurs in over 60% of people with upper respiratory tract infections. Inadvertent antibiotic use has been identified as a contributor to antimicrobial resistance. Outpatient antibiotic use accounts for around 80-90% of all antibiotic use in patients. Clinical officers are non-physician healthcare workers who have received less training, have a more restricted scope of practice than physicians. Abstract:

Melanoma treatment has improved significantly with the development of immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI), which has greatly enhanced the survival rates of patients with metastatic melanoma. However, a significant number of patients do not respond well to ICI treatment and experience progression. This highlights the critical need for practical means to track melanoma patients' response to ICI. To address this issue, the patterns of circulating miRNAs were studied in liquid biopsies of melanoma patients. These miRNAs have the potential to provide essential information regarding the cancer stage, progression, and the presence of PD-L1 in tumor tissue. Ontogenes in Drosophila Melanogaster and a Model of Speciation

Abstract:

A new type of mutations-dominant lethals with a facultative manifestation -were discovered in D. melanogaster in 2000. These mutations were named conditional mutations. Under restrictive genetic conditions, the mutations manifest themselves as dominant lethals, whereas dominant lethality disappears under permissive conditions, displaying a set of other manifestations. The genes responsible for the emergence of conditional mutations were named ontogenes. The experiments with mutations in ontogenes have revealed the following processes: (1) genome editing in germline cells; (2) induction of high mutagenesis rates in germline cells of the mutants for ontogenes; (3) zygotic selection; (4) isolation of mutants; and (5) alterations in the lethality of mutants with time.
