Soil Zoology
Soil zoology is the study of the species of insects, worms, and other invertebrates that live in the soil. It is a branch of soil science that helps to understand the structure and functioning of soils and their impact on the environment. Soil zoology is important in understanding and preserving soil fertility, carbon storage, and energy exchange and also provides important information on the existence of beneficial micro-organisms in the soil. Further, soil zoology can help develop non-destructive methods of soil sampling, assessment of soil health, and sustainable land management practices. It is also useful in understanding the effects of climate change on soil systems.
