Ascaris Lumbricoides
Ascaris lumbricoides is a species of parasitic roundworm that is responsible for a type of intestinal infection known as ascariasis. Ascariasis is the most common helminth infection in humans, and is endemic in many parts of the world. It can cause malnutrition, anemia, and bowel obstruction in its victims. Treatment consists of anthelmintic medications, lifestyle modifications, and surgical removal of the worms in severe cases. Ascaris lumbricoides is considered an important public health concern due to its ability to cause illness and disability in an individual. Prevention measures focus on hygiene, sanitation, and educating vulnerable populations on the risks associated with ascariasis.
