Animal Aging
Animal aging is the biological process of degeneration that occurs in an animal as it transitions from a juvenile to an adult stage, and, eventually, an elderly stage. Aging is a natural process that can be observed as animals get older. The process of aging is essential for the life cycle and is characterized by a decline in physical and mental abilities. The signs of aging in animals vary depending on the species, but generally include a decrease in mobility and strength, increased susceptibility to disease, and a decline in cognitive abilities. Animals age differently, some living out a longer lifespan than others. Research on animal aging has helped us to better understand the aging process in humans and develop treatments to improve the quality of life for both human and animal patients.
