Overview
Female reproductive health refers to the overall well-being and proper functioning of the female reproductive system across the lifespan, including the organs, hormones, and physiological processes involved in menstruation, fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause. It encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and management of conditions affecting reproductive organs, as well as access to information and services that support healthy reproductive and sexual function. Key dimensions include menstrual and hormonal health, fertility and family planning, preconception and maternal care, the prevention and treatment of reproductive tract infections and disorders, and the management of life-stage transitions such as menopause. Female reproductive health is shaped not only by biological factors but also by knowledge, behavior, social circumstances, and access to care, which is why education and the utilization of health services are central to it. Promoting reproductive health supports the well-being of women and, through maternal health, of families and communities. Within the scope of Women's Reproductive Health, which addresses the reproductive and sexual health of women, this page gathers peer-reviewed, open-access research relevant to female reproductive health, including studies of reproductive health knowledge and service use, preconception care, premenstrual syndrome, and menopausal symptoms.
