Stigma

Stigma is a social and psychological phenomenon in which people who are perceived as being different from the majority are label negatively and treated differently as a result. This can lead to isolation, discrimination, and decreased access to resources and opportunities. Stigma can lead to a range of physical and mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, and even suicide. Research is increasingly showing the significance of stigma in mental health outcomes, leading to interventions such as stigma-reducing campaigns and policies to reduce the negative impacts.
