Prisons
Prisons are facilities specifically designed to enforce the deprivation of liberty for individuals convicted of a crime. Prisons provide an effective way of reducing crime by taking away the freedoms of criminals. Through the use of surveillance and restricted living, prisons are able to enforce significant and sometimes lifelong punishments for dangerous and disruptive members of society. Prisons also provide an incentive for law-abiding citizens to continue following the law, as a violation can lead to a sentence in prison. Prisons are also used to provide rehabilitation for inmates, giving them job and educational opportunities to help them reintegrate into society after their sentence is completed. Prisons are a necessary means for maintaining order in society, as well as providing offenders with the opportunity to reintegrate into society after their sentence is complete.
