Neurology

Neurology is a branch of medicine that deals with the anatomy, physiology, and diseases of the nervous system. It focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles, autonomic nervous system, and blood vessels that constitute the nervous system. Common neurological disorders include dementia, epilepsy, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Neurologists are able to diagnose, treat, and manage these conditions and many others, allowing the patient to experience improved quality of life. Neurology plays an important role in patient care and is an essential part of any integrated healthcare system.
