Mental Health and Psychiatry
Mental health and psychiatry are two closely related fields of medicine dedicated to promoting emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. Mental health includes the prevention, identification, and treatment of mental disorders, while psychiatry specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health disorders. Psychiatric medications, psychotherapy, and other treatments are common elements of treatment plans for those suffering from mental health illness. Mental health and psychiatry are important for maintaining overall health and wellbeing, as untreated mental health issues can lead to physical health problems, job loss, and social and family issues.
