Overview

Maternal medicine is a subspecialty of medicine that focuses on the care of pregnant women, fetuses, and newborns. It includes monitoring and managing the physical, mental and psychological health of a pregnant woman, as well as providing information and support to parents. In addition to providing care for the mother, maternal medicine is also responsible for detecting and managing medical conditions that can occur in pregnancy, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and Rh incompatibility. Maternal medicine practitioners work together with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the health and safety of expecting mothers and their babies. The importance of maternal medicine ensures that mothers receive the best care available during their pregnancy and beyond.
