Domestic Violence and Mental Health
Domestic violence and mental health are closely linked. Survivors of domestic violence are more likely to experience depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. Effects of domestic violence can be long-lasting, impacting a survivor's physical, mental, and emotional health. Mental health professionals can help survivors identify and address the mental health consequences of domestic violence and work toward recovery. Mental health providers can also help survivors to develop healthier relationships and prevent the cycle of violence from continuing. Increasing awareness and understanding of the mental health impacts of domestic violence is important for improving public health outcomes.
