Diagnosis and Treatment of Parkinson?s Disease
Parkinson's disease is a degenerative neurological disorder that affects movement and can worsen over time. Symptoms of Parkinson's disease include tremor, slowness of movement, stiffness and difficulty with balancing, coordination and walking. Treatments for Parkinson's disease focus on controlling the symptoms and improving quality of life. Treatment options include medications, physical therapy, occupational therapy, deep brain stimulation (DBS), and lifestyle changes. Diagnostic tests such as blood tests, imaging scans, and nerve studies are used to rule out other conditions and to diagnose Parkinson's disease. A timely diagnosis, along with appropriate treatment, is essential to providing the best care to people with Parkinson's disease.
