Animal Migration

Animal Migration is the process of animals moving from one place to another. It typically occurs on a seasonal basis and is essential to many ecosystems. Animals move for various reasons including seeking food, avoiding predators, and mating. Migration can take place over long distances, such as when birds fly south for the winter, or over short distances within a single habitat. Animal migration has a significant impact on global ecosystems by allowing species to spread and repopulate areas which would otherwise be unable to sustain them. It also serves to mix and spread genetic diversity which is essential for the long-term success of a species. Understanding migration patterns can provide insight into the health of an environment, and aid in conservation efforts.
