Overview
Sustainable agriculture is an approach to agricultural production which strives to meet the needs of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It involves the efficient use of natural resources like land and water, efficient management techniques and the development and use of renewable sources of energy. Sustainable agriculture ensures food and nutrition security, enhances and conserves soil, water and biodiversity resources, and supports resilient and safe farming communities. It also reduces environmental impact and risks, and improves the quality of agricultural products. This approach has numerous benefits, such as improved yields and higher profits for farmers, affordable food for consumers, and a cleaner environment.
