Coastal Meteorology

Coastal meteorology is a sub-discipline of atmospheric sciences that studies how weather systems interact with the coastal zone. It is a highly interdisciplinary field, combining elements of oceanography, meteorology, and hydrology. Coastal meteorology is important in understanding and predicting the effects of coastal storms and extreme weather conditions on infrastructure, the environment, and human activities. It is also essential for coastal communities to prepare for potential natural disasters. Coastal meteorology has a wide range of practical applications, including weather forecasting, coastal erosion, coastal flooding, shipping safety, coastal resource management, and coastal engineering.
