Tropical Medicine Research
Tropical medicine research is the study of diseases and conditions that occur predominantly in tropical and subtropical regions. The field has become increasingly important in recent years with the emergence of new pathogens and the rise of global travel and trade. Tropical medicine research focuses on the development of diagnostics, treatments and control strategies for diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, cholera, schistosomiasis, African trypanosomiasis and other neglected tropical diseases. Additionally, research in this field looks at the socio-economic, environmental and political factors that play a role in the spread of these diseases and contributes to the development of public health policies in developing countries.
