Immune System
The immune system is an intricate network of cells, tissues and organs containing specialized molecules and cells that defends the body from infections, diseases and other invaders. It is the body’s natural defense system against harmful invaders, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, toxins and allergens. The immune system plays a critical role in the prevention and treatment of numerous diseases. It helps to identify and remove invading pathogens, create immunity against future pathogens, and provide a rapid response to protect against infection. It also helps to repair tissue damage and helps to correctly identify and eliminate abnormal cells, such as cancer cells. The immune system is a highly complex and essential system for optimal health and is an important part of overall wellbeing.
