Optogenetics

Optogenetics is a revolutionary scientific technique that combines genetics and optics to control the activity of cells within living organisms, such as plants and animals. By using light-sensitive proteins, or optogenetic actuators, optogenetics is able to activate or inhibit the activity of targeted cells. This technology can be used to control and study the behavior of neurons and other cells, which can be of great benefit to biomedical research, as well as to drug development, biomedicine, and more. Optogenetics has already had a significant impact on our understanding of the human brain, and its potential uses are limitless.
