Metabolomics
Metabolomics is the science of studying and understanding the set of small molecules, called metabolites, in biological systems. This includes the analysis and characterization of both known and unknown metabolites. Metabolomics has become an important tool in medical research as it helps to identify and characterize metabolic changes that occur in various diseases. It has also been used in food science to detect and quantify food contaminants and to assess the nutritional content of food. Additionally, it has been used to evaluate the effects of dietary interventions and the response to pharmaceutical treatments. Furthermore, it may be used to study the genetic basis of metabolic pathways and to understand gene-environment interactions.
