Histiocytes
Histiocytes are a type of white blood cell that play an important role in immune system function and are involved in defending the body against infection and disease. Histiocytes are scavenger cells that engulf and digest foreign materials, and they also play a crucial role in the inflammatory response. Histiocytes can be found in many tissues and organs throughout the body and are especially abundant in the spleen, lymph nodes, and bone marrow. In addition to their role in the immune system, they are also involved in the repair of damaged tissues and the transport of iron. Histiocytes are essential for the body to fight off infection and maintain healthy tissues and organs.
