Thyroid Treatment
Thyroid treatment is the use of medication, surgery, or other procedures to treat a variety of diseases related to the thyroid gland. Thyroid treatment is important to maintain healthy levels of hormones and to effectively manage a wide range of thyroid-related problems, including hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, goiter, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and thyroiditis. Thyroid hormones regulate important body functions such as metabolism, growth, and heart rate, making successful thyroid treatment critical for optimal health. Medications such as levothyroxine or thyroxine can often be used to treat thyroid dysfunction and maintain healthy hormone levels. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to remove an enlarged thyroid, and radioactive iodine can be used to treat thyroid nodules and cancer.
