Metastatic Thyroid Cancer
Metastatic thyroid cancer (also known as distant or advanced thyroid cancer) is a rare form of cancer that has spread beyond the thyroid gland, such as to other parts of the body. It is typically treated with medication, radiation therapy and sometimes surgery. The disease is difficult to treat as it can be difficult to detect and is rarely found in the early stages. The prognosis for metastatic thyroid cancer is usually poor, and the treatments available are typically palliative in nature. However, with careful monitoring, early diagnosis and appropriate treatments, many people with metastatic thyroid cancer can manage their condition and enjoy a better quality of life.
