Overview

Youth sports are an important part of physical activity for children and adolescents. However, there are a number of health issues that can arise from participating in youth sports. These health issues include increased risk of injury, dehydration, and emotional distress. Injuries in youth sports can include sprains, strains, fractures, concussions, and heat illness. Dehydration can occur due to intense physical activity. Emotional distress is common in young athletes who are stressed by the competition and expectations of their peers, coaches, and parents. It is important to be aware of these potential health risks associated with youth sports, and to take the necessary steps to protect young athletes. Proper coaching and support, adequate hydration, and regular rest are all important factors in reducing the risk of injury and emotional distress in youth sports.
