Exercise Prescription

Exercise prescription involves prescribing an individual with an exercise program tailored specifically to their physical abilities and fitness goals. It is based on principles of exercise science and physical activity epidemiology, and is one of the key components of injury prevention, rehabilitation and physical activity promotion. Exercise prescription has been shown to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, improve physical functioning and reduce symptoms of mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. It is widely used by health and fitness professionals, such as physiotherapists and exercise physiologists, to help support individuals in achieving their desired health, fitness and wellbeing outcomes.
