Overview

Exercise is a key factor for good mental health. It has been found to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety and has also been linked to improved cognitive functioning and an increase in self-esteem. Exercise releases endorphins, which can improve your mood, and also releases a chemical known as BDNF, which improves the connections between neurons in the brain. Regular physical activity can improve levels of concentration and memory and lead to better decision making. It also increases energy levels and helps to reduce stress. Exercise can be adapted to suit all ages, levels of fitness and abilities and is an important part of a healthy lifestyle.
