Doping in Sport

Doping in sport is a serious issue, referring to the use of performance-enhancing drugs in competitive athletic performance. While some athletes use it illegally to gain an edge over their competitors, it can be dangerous and comes with many risks. Doping can lead to serious health problems, and can also result in disqualification or suspension from sanctioned competitions. To safeguard athletes’ health and fair competition, measures are in place to reduce and deter doping in sport and are supported by organizations such as the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). WADA works with both athletes and healthcare professionals to develop education and awareness programs and to detect and prosecute individuals who are involved with doping.
