ACL Sprains
An ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) sprain is an injury to the knee joint caused by sudden, sharp movements or trauma to the knee. It is one of the most common sports injuries and can range in severity from a mild stretch to a complete tear of the ligament. Symptoms include pain, swelling, difficulty putting weight on the affected leg, and joint instability. Treatment includes rest, ice, compression, and elevation of the injured area along with physical therapy, bracing, and sometimes surgery. ACL sprains are important to diagnose and treat correctly as they can lead to chronic instability in the knee and future injury if left untreated.
