Overview
Liver disease is a term that describes a range of conditions that affect the health of the organ including inflammation, cirrhosis, scarring, and cancer. It can be caused by alcohol abuse, certain medications, and viruses such as hepatitis. Liver disease can also be hereditary. Early detection and treatment can help reduce or even reverse the progression of the disease. Liver disease can lead to severe health complications including jaundice, malnutrition, and organ failure. The most common treatments for liver disease include medications, lifestyle modifications, and sometimes surgery. It is important to take steps to prevent liver damage in order to maintain good health.
