Pediatrics

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that focuses on the health and wellbeing of infants, children and adolescents. It encompasses preventive health care, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and provides physical and mental health care for all stages of development. Pediatricians are trained to recognize and treat congenital defects, diagnose and treat infectious diseases, and identify and manage behavioral and psychological issues. Pediatrics has become increasingly important in recent years, as the health of children is critical to the future health of the population. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is the leading organization dedicated to the health and welfare of children, providing guidelines and resources to healthcare providers and families.
