Overview

Neurology is a branch of medicine which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses related to the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. It is an important field of medical science as it helps to identify, diagnose and treat diseases that affect the nervous system. Neurologists use a variety of tests such as CAT scans, MRI scans, EEG scans and other tests to diagnose diseases. They also use a variety of treatments such as medications, lifestyle changes and physical therapy to treat illnesses such as stroke, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy and autism. Neurology plays an important role in improving the health and quality of life of people with neurological disorders.
