Daytime Sleepiness
Daytime sleepiness, also known as hypersomnolence, is a condition in which an individual feels excessively sleepy or fatigued during the day despite having adequate nighttime sleep. Daytime sleepiness can increase the risk of having accidents and can impair physical and cognitive performance. It can also lead to social and occupational impairment. Treatment typically involves lifestyle modifications (such as adopting a regular sleep schedule and avoiding long daytime naps) and medications. In some cases, it can also involve treating an underlying sleep disorder such as sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, or narcolepsy.
