Overview
Anxiety disorders are mental health conditions characterized by persistent, excessive, and irrational fear or worry that can significantly interfere with a person’s day-to-day functioning and quality of life. Common anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Symptoms of anxiety can include constant worry and fear, difficulty sleeping, difficulty concentrating, rapid heart rate, rapid breathing, and other physical symptoms. Effective treatments for anxiety disorders can include lifestyle changes, psychotherapy, and medications. Improving the understanding and treatment of anxiety disorders can help improve the quality of life of those affected by them.
