Muscle Cramps
Muscle cramps are sudden, involuntary contractions of the muscle, usually accompanied by pain. They usually last for a few seconds to several minutes and can occur in any skeletal muscle. They are commonly caused by overexertion, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and medications. Treatments for muscle cramps include stretching, massage, and using ointments or cold compresses. Muscle cramping can be highly disabling, so it is important to recognize the signs and symptoms and seek treatments as soon as possible.
