Overview
Depressive symptoms are a range of physical, psychological, and behavioral changes that can indicate a clinical depression. Common symptoms include persistent feelings of sadness, lack of interest in activities that were previously enjoyed, difficulty sleeping, and changes in weight or appetite. Depression can have a significant negative effect on a person’s quality of life and affects an estimated 10-15% of people worldwide. Early diagnosis and treatment of depressive symptoms is essential to manage the condition. Treatment may consist of psychotherapy, antidepressants, lifestyle changes, and self-care strategies.
